World Athletics Elite Label event to be broadcast live worldwide with over three hours of coverage.
The Condor Executive Antrim Coast Half Marathon has today unveiled an outstanding international elite field for its 2026 edition, with some of the world's finest distance runners set to race along Northern Ireland’s spectacular Antrim Coast on Sunday, 23 August.
Further underlining the event’s growing global status, World Athletics will provide more than three hours of live coverage across its worldwide digital platforms, bringing the race to an international audience. In North America, FloSports will broadcast the event live, ensuring extensive coverage across the United States and Canada.
The world-class broadcast team will once again be led by renowned World Athletics commentator Tim Hutchings, joined by respected Irish endurance coach Kevin English, former British Olympian Scott Overall, and Wendy Sly, the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic 3000m silver medallist who featured in one of athletics’ most iconic races alongside Mary Decker and Zola Budd. Sly will also serve as one of the event’s official starters.
Adding further star quality, five-time Olympian Jo Pavey returns to the Antrim Coast as one of the event’s popular Sub-2 Hour Team Leaders, inspiring thousands of participants aiming to break the two-hour barrier.
Men’s Elite Race
Leading the men's field is former Antrim Coast champion Daniel Mateiko (Kenya), the UK and Ireland all-comers record holder and one of the world's premier road racers. Mateiko returns to the Antrim Coast having won the event in 2023 and following a superb runner-up finish at the Valencia Half Marathon.
He will face strong competition from fellow Kenyan Isaia Lasoi, whose recent performances include podium finishes at the Ras Al Khaimah, Prague and Copenhagen Half Marathons, while rising star Samwel Chebolei arrives after an impressive second-place finish at the 2026 Prague Half Marathon. Former Copenhagen Half Marathon champion Edward Cheserek, one of the most decorated athletes ever to emerge from the US collegiate system, adds further quality, alongside Ethiopia's exciting young talent Yismaw Dillu, winner of both the Cardiff Half Marathon and Great Ethiopian Run in 2025.
The British challenge will be spearheaded by Olympians Marc Scott and Ben Connor. Scott, a World Indoor Championship medallist and one of Britain's most accomplished distance runners, owns a half marathon best of 60:39, while Connor brings extensive championship experience and a marathon best of 2:10:49.
Women’s Elite Race
The women’s race promises to be equally compelling. Ethiopian star Girmawit Gebrzihair heads the field following victories and podium finishes at some of the world's fastest road races, while compatriot Degitu Azimeraw arrives as a proven global marathon performer, boasting victories and podium finishes in Barcelona and London. Uganda’s Sarah Chelangat, runner-up at the 2026 Paris Half Marathon, is expected to be among the leading contenders, while Ethiopia’s Wede Kefale continues her rise after strong performances in Valencia and Copenhagen.
Kenya’s Mercy Chebwogen, a former World Junior Champion, brings championship pedigree, while fellow Kenyan Winnie Kimutai arrives in excellent form following podium finishes in Seville and Malaga earlier this year. The international depth is further strengthened by leading American marathoners Dakotah Popehn and Annie Frisbie, alongside Britain's Jess Warner-Judd, whose recent performances in London, New York and Barcelona underline her status among Europe's leading endurance athletes.
With a world-class elite field, global live television coverage, and thousands of participants expected to line up on one of the fastest and most scenic courses in the world, the 2026 Condor Executive Antrim Coast Half Marathon is set to deliver another unforgettable chapter in its remarkable rise on the international athletics stage.
